Partnerships
Salisbury District Council recognises the significant benefits of working in partnerships. The council plays an active role in the following partnerships to promote the economic development of South Wiltshire:
- South Wiltshire Economic Partnership
- Wiltshire and Swindon Economic Partnership
- Salisbury Tourism Partnership
- Salisbury City Centre Management
- Wiltshire and Swindon Rural Regeneration Partnership

South Wiltshire Economic Partnership (SWEP)
The South Wiltshire Economic Partnership (SWEP) aims to further the development of the Salisbury and South Wiltshire economy.
SWEP is a partnership of public and private sector organisations that focuses on development of the local economy for the benefit of local business competitiveness. SWEP's work is undertaken by Salisbury District Council's economic development team, making it an informal public/private partnership.
There are currently over 650 members of SWEP.
SWEP is a partnership between the council, local businesses and other organisations, that:
- is the focal point for communication about all economic issues in South Wiltshire
- ensures the co-ordinated delivery of information, advice, support and aftercare for businesses
- acts as a catalyst for priority issues, identified by the business community and leading economic development organisations
- provides an important link between public and private sectors in South Wiltshire
Members of SWEP sit on the boards of Business Link Berkshire and Wiltshire, the South Wiltshire Strategic Alliance and Wiltshire and Swindon Economic Partnership.
Inspiration: promoting South Wiltshire for business
On 22 June, this summer's Swep Forum launched the new campaign to promote South Wiltshire as a thriving place for business. The forum featured presentations, and unveiled the new promotional material for the campaign:

- Hi-tech industries in Salisbury and South Wiltshire (PDF 764KB)
The publications, produced jointly with Salisbury District Council, are part of a campaign to attract business to South Wiltshire.
The event also featured case studies from two local companies. Both companies are recent winners of the prestigious Sunday Times Virgin 'Fast Track 100' Award for the UK's fastest growing businesses.
Mark Bugden of Castleway Construction and Steve Mills, Operations Director of 4com gave overviews of their route to success and shared some top tips on how they got there.

The Executive Board
SWEP's executive board is made up of five private sector individuals and three Salisbury District Council members, and meets at least four times a year. The board is currently chaired by Stephen Woodhouse of Wisewalk Resources Ltd.
The SWEP vision statement:
'For Salisbury to be recognised as a European Centre for International Business, Technology and Tourism.'

Wiltshire and Swindon Economic Partnership (WSEP)
The aims of the Wiltshire and Swindon Economic Partnership are:
- to promote the sustainable economic development of Wiltshire and Swindon
- to provide a co-ordinated structure for interfacing with regional and national bodies and influencing their decisions
- to co-ordinate and promote bids for grants and resources
- to provide a coherent partnership framework within which to co-ordinate the activities of the main economic development organisations and the private sector
- to encourage the development of partnership working and the spread of best practice

Salisbury Tourism Partnership
Salisbury Tourism Partnership has almost 300 members drawn from all sectors of the local industry, including accommodation, attractions, pubs and restaurants, shops, sport and leisure, arts and entertainment.

How do I join Salisbury Tourism Partnership?
Salisbury City Centre Management (CCM)
Salisbury City Centre Management promotes the economic vitality and viability of the city centre. CCM is a partnership between Salisbury District Council and city centre businesses.
The CCM team provides:
- performance monitoring (footfall, retail sales trends, car park occupancy, vacancy rate)
- events management (Christmas Lights Switch-on, St George's Day celebrations, annual Ball, topical seminars)
- project fundraising
- pavement café licensing
- business liaison
- promotional opportunities
- vacant retail premises brochure
The team also responds to questions and complaints from the public and local businesses.
Salisbury District Council and local business subscription jointly fund the partnership.

Wiltshire and Swindon Rural Regeneration Partnership
The aim of the Wiltshire and Swindon Rural Regeneration Partnership is to:
- encourage the sustainability of rural communities in Wiltshire
- co-ordinate and guide the economic, social and environmental regeneration of village communities

Wiltshire Market Towns Partnership
Wiltshire Market Towns Partnership is a three year capacity building program for market town regeneration in Wiltshire. The partnership helps communities adopt a vision and identify actions needed to improve future quality of life.
The partnership is funded by SWRDA, the Countryside Agency and Wiltshire local authorities. The project is steered by WSEP, and its work is undertaken by staff from Wiltshire County Council.
