Wilton

With the lowest and most thinly spread of all the community areas, Wilton contains large tracts of chalk download from the north of Salisbury Plan right down to Cranborne Chase area.

Historically, there are some who believe that Wilton may have given partially given the county its name of ‘Wiltshire’ and was long in existence before Salisbury was developed.

Currently the market place does have a weekly market with many interesting shops in the locality.

Wilton House, one of the areas largest tourist attractions and home to the Earl of Pembroke, is also a popular filming destination with films such as ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and ‘The Young Victoria’ taking advantage of its beautiful architecture and restored furniture.
